Male Breast Surgery
For some men, the ideal masculine look includes a broad, flat chest. But depending on your age, hormone levels, underlying medical conditions, and genetics, your body may be receiving mixed signals about where to store fatty tissues. Gynecomastia is a condition wherein men develop feminine breasts. In addition to compromising your confidence and appearance, gynecomastia may also stem from a rooted cause that could benefit from treatment.
At Paragould Plastic Surgery, we know how excessive breast tissue in men can cause embarrassment. Gynecomastia can also affect young men during puberty, piling on the awkwardness at an already fragile time. Paragould is proud to offer male breast surgery for the reduction of fatty tissues, restoring confidence, and encouraging a more masculine appearance.
How Male Breast Surgery Works
At Paragould Plastic, our male breast surgery addresses the two main side effects of gynecomastia. First, we’ll remove the excess fat in a manner similar to liposuction. This process deflates the breasts for a flatter appearance. Second, we’ll remove the excess skin while tightening the remaining skin to give your chest a completely natural-looking, masculine appearance.
Both steps of the procedure are designed to have you going topless at the beach in no time. Incision lines are concealed along the natural contours of the chest, providing for a smooth, even complexion and flat, muscular appearance throughout.
Candidates for Male Breast Surgery
Men can develop breasts at nearly all ages, beginning at puberty and extending well into middle age or beyond. As the male body ages, it produces less and less testosterone—the hormone responsible for so many traditionally masculine features. Similarly, a reduction in testosterone production could accompany an uptick in estrogen production (a hormone that men also produce, albeit in smaller quantities than females).
Nearly all men who find themselves developing breasts are eligible for male breast surgery. Treating any underlying condition may not always resolve the storage of fatty tissue already present on the chest. But with male breast surgery from Paragould Plastic, you can get back on track to that prized, masculine aesthetic in just one procedure.
Benefits of Male Breast Surgery
Male Breast Surgery FAQ
Male breast surgery patients typically feel recovered within two weeks. Complete healing may require up to 4-6 weeks to ensure the best benefits. Exercise can resume with a doctor’s permission at about the three-week mark, though you may want to avoid target chest exercises until completely cleared by your physician.
Male breast surgery is permanent so long as several conditions are met. Drastic fluctuations in body weight after the procedure may contribute to the formation of new breasts, and if the underlying cause of gynecomastia isn’t also treated, new breasts may form. So long as weight is controlled and the underlying cause is addressed, the benefits of male breast surgery should persist for life.
Most visible scarring is concealed along the natural contours of the chest, resulting in a completely natural appearance. While it may not be possible to conceal all scars completely, the vast majority won’t be noticeable.
