Breast Augmentation FAQ
Breast augmentation procedure takes place under general anesthesia and is performed in our safe and comfortable surgery center. Incisions could be made where the breast meets the chest wall or around the areola. Your surgeon will determine the best approach to inserting and placing the implant based on your anatomy. If you are getting a breast lift as a part of your breast augmentation, the incisions may be made vertically up and down the lower breast.
You may experience some soreness and swelling for several weeks after the procedure but will be able to be up and walking right after the surgery. Most patients take a week to relax and heal after the procedure.
You will have a follow-up visit in the days following the procedure, and your surgeon will check your healing process and answer any questions you may have. Regular breast imaging could be recommended based on your age group and level of risk.
The two main types of implants used in breast augmentation procedures are silicone and saline. During your consultation, Dr. Epperson will go over the differences and advantages of both types of implants. Both silicone and saline implants have been rigorously researched and tested for safety and can help you achieve the breast size and shape you desire.
