Fat Grafting
Fat Grafting
As we age, it’s normal to experience weight fluctuations or volume loss. At Paragould Plastic Surgery & Dermatology, we offer fat grafting to help patients restore volume and accomplish a youthful-looking appearance. We pride ourselves on using advanced techniques to restore volume with natural-looking outcomes.
Fat grafting is also known as fat transfer, autologous fat translation, or micro-lipoinjection. During the fat grafting procedure, fat cells are extracted from your target areas. Common problem areas include the abdomen, back, or thighs and re-injected in the buttocks, breasts, hands, or other desired areas.
Benefits of Fat Grafting
Who’s eligible?
Men and women who have noticed parts of your body starting to become thinner or starting to sag, and desire smoothness and volume are excellent candidates for fat grafting.
Fat grafting procedures are often appealing to patients who prefer natural enhancements rather than implants or fillers. Additionally, using your own fat produces natural-looking results without the risk of allergic reactions.
Fat Grafting FAQ
Fat grafting is a minimally invasive procedure and, like fillers, only involves a series of injections into the body. Anesthesia or a numbing method can be used, depending on the amount and location of fat needed. Fat grafting is a two-part procedure that involves removing small amounts of fat from the abdomen, thighs, or other parts of the body using a very small cannula. The fat is then prepared and injected into the recipient site with a needle. For some areas, multiple injections may be needed.
The healing phase depends on the locations of the fat harvest and transfer. However, while some larger treatments require a recovery period, many patients resume normal activities only days after fat grafting. You can expect minor swelling, bruising, or redness in both donor and recipient sites.
Fat transplants help you achieve natural-looking results by elevating sagging tissues. Typically, the procedure results typically last for at least one year. We recommend repeated injections when necessary.
